Merchants' Organization CAIT Calls for Boycott of Chinese Goods, List of More than 500 items Released

Condemning China's military aggression along the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has called for a boycott of Chinese goods. CAIT has also prepared a list of about 500 imported items. CAIT said that it aims to reduce the import of Chinese finished goods by $ 13 billion or about Rs 1 lakh crore by December 2021. CAIT has taken this step after the India-China clash near the Galvan Valley in Ladakh on Monday.

In this list prepared by CAIT, everyday items such as toys, furnishing fabrics, textiles, builder hardware, footwear, apparel, kitchen items, luggage, hand bags, food, watches, jams and jewellery, garments, stationery, Paper, Household Items, Furniture, Lighting, Health Products, Packaging Products, Auto Parts, Cosmetics, Gift Items, Electrical & Electronics, Fashion Apparel, Diwali & Holi Items, Goggles, Tapestry Material etc.

CAIT national president BC Bhartia and national general secretary Praveen Khandelwal said about the campaign, "India's imports from China amount to about 5.25 lakh crores, i,e $ 70 billion annually. CAIT has selected over 3,000 products in the initial phase, which are also manufactured in India, but these items are being imported from China for low price greed. In place of these Chinese items, items manufactured in India can be used quite easily. '

He added, 'The products which have technology importance, are not yet included in the boycott, as long as the option of this type of technology is not developed in India or manufactured by a friend country of India, Till then there is no other option but to use items with that type of technology.'
