What is Garib Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyan (Poor Welfare Employment Campaign), Know everything !

Prime Minister Modi today launched the 'Garib Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyan' in Khagaria District of Bihar through video conferencing. Millions of migrant workers reached their homes amidst Coronavirus pandemic. The scheme has been launched for the purpose of giving employment to them.


Launching the Garib Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyan, PM Modi also referred to the incident in Ladakh. He said that the sacrifices that our heroes have made in Ladakh, I would like to mention with pride that this might belongs to Bihar Regiment, every Bihari takes pride in it. The PM said that I pay tribute to the martyred soldiers.

Under this campaign, the government has identified 116 districts in six states. Around 67 lakh migrant laborers have returned to these districts. These 116 districts include 32 in Bihar, 31 in Uttar Pradesh, 24 in Madhya Pradesh, 22 in Rajasthan, 4 in Odisha and 3 in Jharkhand.

These are the 116 districts where more than 25 thousand migrant laborers have returned. There is a plan to provide employment for 125 days in a year under the 'Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan'.

The government has kept the budget of 'Garib Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyan' at Rs 50 thousand crore. Workers will be given 25 government schemes according to skill. The government has done skill mapping before implementing this campaign. In the self-reliant India also, 40 thousand crore extras have already been announced in the MNREGA scheme for migrant laborers. This year, the budget of MNREGA has increased to Rs 1 lakh crore.

The Finance Minister said about this campaign that it is part of the Self-Reliant India Package. When the laborers get work, they will get money in their hands and they will spend it to speed up the economy. Apart from this, his skill will also be used in rural infrastructure development.

Under this campaign, community sanitation complex, village panchayat building, works under the finance commission funds, national highway works, water conservation and irrigation, wells excavation. Plantation, Horticulture, Anganwadi Centers, PM Awas Yojana (Rural), PM Gram Sadak Yojana, Railways, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee RURBAN Mission, PM KUSUM, Fiber Optic Laying of Bharat Net, Water Life Mission etc. will be done.

The central government says that the list of the names of the workers who have been sent back to the village by the workers' special or other way, is already with the government. Based on that list, they will be provided work. The list of people who have escaped from a city and reached their village on foot or by any other means, has also been prepared by the District Collector of the concerned district. Even then, once you check your name in that list, it would be better.

If the migrant laborers want any kind of information about this scheme, then they can contact the nearest Gram Panchayat or Development Block office.

A senior official of the Union Ministry of Rural Development, which has been appointed as the nodal ministry for this campaign, says that all the work done by the state government will take place, from work in this employment campaign to payment of wages. Therefore, instead of directly contacting the Central Government, people desirous of getting work should keep in touch with the officials and employees of their block or tehsil.
