New Features Coming in Google Maps will Alert Users For COVID-19

Tech giants are constantly adding new features in Google Maps. Now Google has said that the company is going to add new features to its free navigation app which will alert users about travel restrictions related to COVID-19.

Google is adding new features in its Maps service to alert users. Alphabet Inc unit has said that will give alerts related to travel restrictions related to COVID-19 so that users can plan their trip accordingly.


Google said that through the upcoming updates, users will be able to know how crowded a station is at a particular time. Also how many buses are plying on a fixed route on a limited schedule. The company said in a blog post that the transit alert will be rolled out in other countries including Argentina, France, India, Netherlands, US and UK.

The new feature will also initially contain information related to checkpoints and restrictions associated with COVID-19 while crossing the national border in Canada, Mexico and the US.


Let us know that recently the company has analysed the location data of billions of Google users present in 131 countries. Its purpose is to detect movement during lockdown and help the health authorities. Through the location, the company learned that people are not violating social distancing.

Google has invested billions of dollars from its search ads business to digitally map the world. About 1 billion users use Google's free navigation app every month.
